Ep. 6 – Shoptimized Theme for Shopify Sucks – Here’s Why
In this episode of The Lifestyle Flipper Show Matt talks about the popular Shoptimized theme for Shopify and why he thinks its overrated for high-ticket dropshipping.
Mentioned in this episode:
This is a topic our team was literally just discussing today!
We are considering moving to another theme on our largest store.
I’m not sure I agree with you on every point but you and I see eye to eye on most of it unfortunately….
Gimmicky Features – you bet it is packed with them, we simply shut them off but some of these are what makes the theme so versatile to all kinds of business.
Support – Support is a commodity. I’ll grant you that some do it better than others but it’s an expected commodity and Shoptimized provides it as expected without any bells, whistles, or extras. Could certainly be better.
Email Promotions – Bradley is relentlessly with this crap. One of the biggest reasons I will probably leave Shoptimized on my stores is the crazy amount of email I get from them promoting absolute shit courses that I know for a fact are shit courses.
In the end, Shoptimized is still a lot of theme for the money considering themes like Turbo come in at over $300 now and is still a great theme for anyone wanting the most features without apps and coding.
That said, for more advanced stores, I would highly recommend having someone with coding skills on hand.
I think people are slowly starting to come around. I know for sure I’m not the only one that thinks this way about Shoptimized but I never see or hear anyone speaking up about it. Then, people who are new to eCommerce only see that Shoptimized is the bee’s-knees and are misinformed about what it’s like for high-ticket eCommerce.
Your point on coding is spot on. I think it’s almost a skill that everyone who owns and operates a Shopify store needs to know – at least the basics. (A new Easy eCommerce Wins Course perhaps *hint-hint*?)
